General Dentist

Sherrill Jordan, DDS, FAGD

Dr. Sherrill Jordan is first and foremost a Christian, then a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Dr. Jordan completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with honors from the UNC School of Dentistry in 2007.

While in college, Dr. Jordan played trumpet for the Marching Tarheels and remains a huge Tarheel fan. To this day, she has never missed one of their homecoming events.

I’m an FAGD dentist!

What does that mean for you and your family?

FAGD stands for Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Fellowship takes dedication to continue dental education beyond graduation. Only about six percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows. When you see a dentist with FAGD after their name, you can rest assured that they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD Fellows practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year.

To become an AGD Fellow, a dentist must:

Complete over 500 credit hours of continuing education.
Earn 350 of those 500 credits in live courses.
Pass an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams.

General Dentist

Karen Thompson, DDS

Dr. Karen Thompson has been practicing dentistry since 1997. A native of Fayetteville, she has lived in the Matthews area since 2004. Dr. Thompson earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

After graduation, she served as a dental officer in the United States Air Force. She provides excellence in all aspects of dentistry and stays true to her philosophy of treating patients like family.

Away from the office, she enjoys DIY and crafting projects, church activities, and college football. Dr. Thompson and her husband, Brian, keep busy with three children and five fur babies.
