What Are Dental Implants?

Dr. Sherrill Jordan understands that living without one or more of your teeth can be difficult and unhealthy. It can destroy your confidence, make you reluctant to smile, hinder your ability to speak naturally, and impact what types of food you can eat. Temporary or impermanent replacements, such as a bridge or dentures, can fill in the gap but they will not look or feel the same as your natural teeth. Temporary replacements can also cause problems, including damage to otherwise healthy teeth that are being used to support the artificial device. Bone loss and deterioration in the bone structure of your face can also develop if not addressed. Dental implants mimic your tooth structure and are a durable option to replace one or more of your teeth. A tooth implant from Dr. Jordan of Midland, NC, can be made to look and feel so natural, it will seem just like your original tooth.

The Benefit of
Multiple Teeth Replacement

Since dental implants are stronger than tooth structures, we can utilize multiple dental implants for replacing multiple teeth. It is not necessary to have a single dental implant for each missing tooth. Each implant can restore as many as six teeth by strategically placing dental implants. This procedure is easily completed using digital 3D x-rays integrated with custom 3D printed surgical guides and restorations made by CAD/CAM precision. This advanced technology ensures the most precise outcomes.

What is a Fixed Implant-Supported Denture?

Sometimes it is impossible to save any teeth in the patient’s mouth, mainly from years of neglect, numerous failed restorations, health problems, fear, or high treatment cost. By utilizing 3D digital x-rays, custom 3D printed surgical guides, and restorations made by CAD/CAM design, we can remove all the failing teeth and replace them with permanent restorations in one day. The Teeth-in-a-Day® procedure can require as few as four implants and is done while you’re sedated. When the patient wakes, they have a new smile and a mouth free of damaged teeth. This procedure is an excellent fit for patients who already have dentures and want permanent teeth again.

What Are
Snap-In Dentures?

Snap-in dentures are connected, or “snapped”, onto titanium posts implanted in your jawbone during minor oral surgery. An upper or lower denture can be connected to as few as two or four implants. The tiny implants bond to your jawbone and serve as artificial roots for your dentures. The bonding process usually takes about three to six months.

Dr. Sherrill Jordan’s
One-Visit Restorations

CEREC® one-visit crowns, enhanced with CAD/CAM imaging, allow our practice to create tooth-colored porcelain restorations for healthy, beautiful smiles in a single appointment. The CEREC scan also doubles as a digital impression, allowing us to get an accurate 3D impression of your teeth, including your jaw, without the traditional messy goop used in the past. This digital impression provides much more information and is more comfortable for our patients.

Frequently Asked
Questions About Implants

Whether it’s a single-tooth implant, or several implants used to support a bridge or fixed dentures, implants are a great option to restore your smile. Your oral health is important, and we want to be sure all your questions are answered. Our goal is to ensure you feel good about the decision to move forward with your custom plan and are as excited as we are about the results!

Dental implants consist of a titanium screw (that acts as a tooth root) and a lifelike crown, full arch, or denture restorations (the portions visible in the mouth). Implants integrate with the bone to form a solid and stable connection for about four to six months, after which we permanently attach the appropriate implant restoration.
Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants integrate with the jaw. Like tooth roots, they help preserve jawbone health, and closely replicate natural teeth in look, feel, and function. As a result, implants offer a permanent, comfortable, and highly stable option for tooth replacement.
Dr. Sherrill Jordan uses 3D imaging to plan the exact position of dental implants and guided implant surgery to precisely insert implants within the jaw bone. These techniques create a minimally-invasive procedure, but we offer sedation options to ensure total comfort during your implant visit.
Accuracy in dental implant placement is paramount because of the vital structures located throughout the head and neck. Dr. Sherrill Jordan has invested in the newest technology that gives us the ability to accurately diagnose and plan dental implants. Our CEREC® scanner allows us to virtually scan and design a dental implant before ever beginning the actual procedure. Assuring the highest level of safety for our patients. This plan can even be made into a guided surgical template so a dental implant can be easily placed into the precise position quickly.
The cost of dental implants in Midland, NC, varies depending on several factors, including the number of teeth placed, the need for tooth extractions or bone grafting, type of implant procedure, and overall oral health. A consultation with our team can determine what your implant cost might be.
At Jordan Family Dentistry, our knowledgeable staff will work with you to see if your insurance company will cover the cost of your dental implant procedure. If it’s not covered, we will work with you to develop a financial plan, if needed. Our patients often tell us that it’s completely worth the investment of their time and money to replace their missing teeth with dental implants.
Treatment time can vary greatly depending on your needs. Most dental implant treatments can be completed between 4-12 months, but some can be even faster. Some dental implants can be restored immediately if the implant is stable enough from the outset. Each situation needs a separate evaluation. After your consultation, Dr. Jordan will give you an approximate timetable.
Dental implants are cared for exactly like normal teeth. Proper brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings are all that's necessary to maintain your dental implants.
A personalized consultation with Dr. Jordan. We’ll take time to listen to your concerns, understand your smile goals, and provide you with a thorough clinical evaluation and digital x-rays. Dr. Jordan will then present the implant options best suited for you. After that, we can get started with your tooth replacement as soon as you are ready.
Implant patients are of all ages and have various reasons for needing the procedure. Dental implants may be the right choice for anyone missing one or more teeth due to injury, disease, or decay. They are especially practical for patients who can no longer wear removable dentures. Dr. Jordan will carefully evaluate your dental and medical history to ensure you're a good candidate for implants.
Nothing lasts forever, but a dental implant will last for life for most patients 45 years or older. As a result, the implant itself won’t typically need replacement. Still, the crown, or cap, placed on the appliance may require restoration or replacement every 10-15 years.

Friendly, professional, and thorough. I was also impressed by the choice of payment options and plans. Thank you Jennifer, Haley, and Dr. Jordan for a great experience.
